How did we get here?
Well, it's safe to say that I didn't intend on being a marketer at all. Entering the University at The Bahamas at age 16, I pursued Early Childhood Education as my major. Things changed for me during the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew -- I found myself using cellular data to watch YouTube videos after nine days without electricity. It was at this point that I discovered that being online was actually a career. My interest was piqued -- my major was also changed. I graduated with my BA in Media Journalism in Spring of 2021 and by that time, I would have also completed my first Google certification, Fundamentals of Digital Marketing.

While I didn't go directly into marketing, I feel like my steps have always been ordered by God through places that have expanded my knowledge of products and services from inception to marketing and additionally, customer retention or "brand loyalty." Since graduating from UB, I have worked in product development with an emphasis on training for new products and rollout. Further, I worked in internal communications and public relations, focusing on keeping staff and the community informed and connected. Most recently, I would have worked as a Marketing Coordinator with heavy emphasis on social media marketing, customer experience, sales and events.

I'm still learning. I strive everyday to learn a little bit more about the social media world I have chosen to explore, using the knowledge from my MSc in Social Media Management and my theoretical groundwork in mass communications I would have done during undergrad. I strive to remain a modern marketer as modern will mean different things in the years to come -- but I plan to keep up. Thanks for reading.
